"Wait—when did that happen?"
If your students are asking this—or worse, not asking at all—they may be missing a critical layer of comprehension. Verb tense isn't just grammar; it's how authors move readers through time. Yet many students skim right past these cues, losing track of the story, the sequence, and even the meaning. This class will help you teach students to see time on the page—and use it to understand what they read.
In this 75-minute video training, you will:
- Discover the hidden comprehension gap—tense shifting
- Identify the verb tense timeline in a sample text and a book passage
- Deepen knowledge and develop competence to implement verb tense instruction through a passage, across a complete text, and in writing practice
- Understand the technical terms for all verb tenses
Improve your students' reading comprehension through explicit verb tense instruction!
The concepts explored in this class are new and have not been taught in our other educator training courses.
