Educator Coaching Session

Today, I had my second coaching session with the staff at RIL, and I wanted to share just how valuable these sessions have been for us. Each hour-long session provides personalized guidance tailored to my child’s unique learning needs. I submit videos of my child reading and writing samples, and in return, I receive targeted feedback, strategies, and exercises designed specifically for how he learns.

This support has been incredible because, as a dyslexic learner, my child’s path to reading isn’t straightforward. After implementing the recommendations from our first coaching session in October, we’ve seen significant progress. Today’s session was a chance to review what’s working, tackle new challenges, and brainstorm fresh approaches as we move through Year 2.

For those concerned about the cost, consider this: the program itself is $150, and each coaching session is $120. If you schedule three sessions in a school year, that comes out to $510 total, which breaks down to about $56.67 per month over nine months—for an ELA program tailored to your child’s needs. Just wanted to reach out and say thank you so much for all of your advice during our coaching meeting. We have restarted our year in earnest and Pinwheels Year 2 is the absolute perfect product for right now. Enough hands on to make sure nothing slips through the cracks and enough flexibility to allow me to adjust as needed for learners who are ahead, but could use the reinforcement.

I met with Moira early on and it really helped me grasp what would be most beneficial, which resources might be helpful, etc. I can also say that it can be a lot to dive into this work . . . but nothing has been as effective or helpful for me working with my oldest son & I used to be a classroom teacher, so I think that’s saying something for the quality and support offered here.

Meeting with Rita was incredibly beneficial. She provided me with the understanding and structure I was needing to navigate my daughter's recently diagnosed dyslexia. I discussed things with my daughter in the manner Rita suggested, and there has been much less resistance from my daughter! The Rooted in Language team is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. The 1:1 consultation was what I needed to get our homeschool back on track and ensure that I am showing up and executing language arts instruction for my daughter in the way she needs and deserves. So helpful, and the Rooted crew have all been wonderful to work with. Your concerns and insight are listened to and taken seriously. I have done two sessions so far for personalized help with my child, and I continue to see the benefits from the information and guidance I received.
